Pushpadanta composed this hymn to praise Shiva and to repent for his misdeeds. After being released when Shiva appeared before him, Pushpadanta became slightly vain. And immediately Nandi, the bull, Shiva's bull, who is there, always with Shiva, Nandi grinned at him. So that smashed his ego. It's not by his own powers that he was able to do this, but out of the grace of Shiva himself. I'll chant the verses and talk about it a little bit.
