What Is the Real Meaning of Existential Inertia?
Claims about the past plausibly are in virtue of events or things existing in the past serving as truth makers for those propositions. So, if it's true that Caesar crossed the Rubicon, the truth of that proposition would seem to be secured or grounded in the existence of Caesar crossing the Rubicon in the past. The Aristotelian causal account underlies the possibility of this claim. After the cause ceases to be, there remains a likeness to it within its metaphysical DNA.
