The Scaling Hypothesis and the Promising Directions

It's a really interesting time to be somebody in the machine learning world I feel there's still a few kind of key debates that people are having right now you have the perspectives on is the scaling hypothesis true. Taking this big pre-trained model and figure out the best ways of adjusting it and adapting it to downstream tasks is something that actually can be done at smaller scale but with reasonable amount of compute. There's a fairly now thriving open-source ecosystem around even larger language models where I think ideas can be explored there.
