The Importance of Empathy in Healthcare
Professor Jeremy Howick from the Stoneygate Centre for Empathic Health Care at Leicester University in the UK. Lissana Harris who's Professor of Social Neuroscience at University College London and told me what he considers empathy to be. In some cases when you're interacting with the patient particularly you want to be empathic. But if you're doing things like sticking patients with needles or slicing them open in surgery, you want to reserve that emotional response.
