Using Spanning Tree Bridging to Make Networks Self Stabilize
The original shared linked ethernet could only support a few hundred nodes. Spanning tree bridging has replaced the original shared link concept of ethernet. The goal was to create a loop free subset of the network, a tree that reaches all the links. Once the tree has been computed, each bridge forwards traffic from any port selected to be in it.
