Do You Have a Strong Idea of What the Film Is Going to Be?
When you start a documentary, though, do you have a strong idea of what it's going to be? Or do you see it as a kind of a journey of discovery? Do you have kind of a plan or do you just start it and let it tell you where to go? In both of my films, I had to imagine what could be, for example, with the Kurdish woman fighters in Iraq, Kurdistan, or being in Syria.
