Viet Cong tunnels in the sort of Kuchi area north of Saigon were used to provide safe areas for supplies. A great producer for them was Artillery, air bombing and machine gun strikes from aircraft and helicopters. The infantry soldiers who went to Vietnam received a total of five hours of training in mines and booby traps. That was the curriculum used in World War II.
