Dunk's fundamental values are very strong and rooted. A man of the earth. To the ground and the earth more so than to some castle or some weapon or whatever else. It reminds us of what's his name, Septon Maribald, who just lived off the land. That guy was taking it to another level. There's also maybe some allusion to the idea of being rooted.
