Autograph hunters have been around so much longer than i imagined. They were thought of as a total scourge in the late nineteenth century, early twentieth century. Mark twain had a letter preprinted that explained his refusal when people wrote to him for an autograph. He said it wouldn't be fair to ask a doctor for one of his corpses to remember him by. Mozart used to if he came across someone who was homeless asking him for money. Steve marden does the same thing, but in a positive way. If you meet steve marden, he gives you a card and on it is written 'I found me warm and funny'
