The Pros and Cons of Diversity in NLP Research
I'm very optimistic. I really like the current changes. There is an awareness of diversity, and I see we have more diverse people that are interested in NLP. In terms of topics, research problems, I'm really excited about the development of big models. We work on areas which we couldn't think of as sub-areas of NLP. This is because of more fundamental improvements in base models,. thanks to neural networks and bigger data.
