The Amygdala and the Polvenar Nucleus in the Brain
The amygdala and part of the thalamus called the Polvenar nucleus. These may be unfamiliar structures to many of my listeners. Both are actually sub-cortical structures, so sort of deep inside the brain. They don't have that organization that cortex has. And in fact, they're really critical for communication of signals across the brain.
