When a Family Member Says, "This Can't Be Right"

When someone is in close proximity to you and they shift some massive aspect of how you knew them, it leaves you standing on ground that suddenly feels shaky. And I think we have to be honest with ourselves that that's a scary personal moment. We don't construct our identities and then go out into the world and bounce off other people. Layer upon layer of identity is constructed through the relationships we have with others.
