The Welsh Government's Pay-Up Lift Enhancements for General Practice
A lot of these problems that we're talking about here, they are common problems in all four of the UK countries. Last year, excluded general practice, GP contracted salary GPs. Most practices don't offer agenda for change contracts for their staff. We do compete in the same small, limited staff pool as health boards and this has just driven a more competitive employment market. The decision widens the pay differential between secondary care employed staff and GMS employed staff. It's not going to do anything to help improve access either, which is what all the governments seem to be most focused on.
