The Importance of Being Aware of Big Things
Much of the book is set in that, oh my gosh, these big, these big things are happening all around me and I almost can't see them. And it's especially important for Margot who is very concerned about herself and in some ways self centered because of what she's experiencing. She often feels that anything that is happening, especially in relation to parents symbolizes signify something about herself as well.
