Circular Saws for Logging
circular saws for logging actually did exist in the early days of power sawing. The maximum depth of a cut made by a circular saw is going to be the radius of the saw blade, right? So if you want to cut through a tree trunk that's ten feet wide, you need a saw that can cut in at least about five feet. Ah, so there's an image of one of these again in lee's book, called the holt stump saw. It's one of those images you you it's amazing, but you kind of wish you could unsee it.
