Is Heparinization a Risk?
The whole heparinized thing has really fallen out of favor. A big meta analysis which looked at a whole bunch of different papers and RCTs, I think it was like five or so years ago. And they found eight studies which like enrolled over 3,100 patients. If you have three ports, three lumens on a device and you're heparinizing all three of those and then somebody comes and flushes them without pulling back, you can give as much aslike a fifth of a bolus dose that you would give for an MI - about a thousand units.
