There are some real technical differences between the two operating systems in terms of the way that they're implemented at even like a low level. Android actually uses the Linux kernel so that's the same kernel that was developed by Linus Torvalds and a huge network of open source developers around the world over the last three decades starting in 1991. The majority of Android is open source except for the top layers the Google services the some of the apps distributed with it by Google. From a developer standpoint there's also differences in the performance of the hardware and different operating system layers iOS tends to be higher performance not only because their microprocessors were designed in house but you tend to see Apple design more
