Hege is interested in the way ideas change by means of setting up a certain way of looking at the world, and then starting to recognize that it's incomplete. He sees the development of human history as always on this track of trying to get a more comprehensi viture of reality. Schopenhauer was convinced that the buddha was right, that if we came to see s more adequately, we would end the kind of self centred craving that leads to suffering. For him, reality, interestingly enough, is will, this chaotic wilfulness. But that dynamic picture of reality that wants control over the n ment often leads us into conflict.
