Introduction
Jim Alkelele talks to an astrophysicist who grew up just down the road from here in Barry. Both her parents left school as soon as they could but she stayed on an education, studying for a degree and PhD at Cardiff University. She's now a professor of astrophysics, specializing in cosmic dust. Those small particles of matter spread out through interstellar space. For centuries cosmic dust was nothing more than a source of irritation for most astronomers because like smog it prevented them from seeing the stars.
