I Was Offended by Anna Karenina, Right?
Matt Dankona: For contemporary writing, I find myself now reading more nonfiction than fiction. When you're in a writing program, the writing program then becomes the first site of social censure. Before you actually even go on to finding an agent and a publisher because people will say they were offended by Anna Karenina. And it has its own version of providence in the notion that there is a direction to history. But I'm fascinated to know why you think this has arisen at this particular moment.
