Potters would have experimented with different materials for glazing that would have come from rocks in ore. Also, it is believed that smelting may have been first learnt from residue from glazes on pottery after they had been in the kiln since these operated at high temperatures. So whatever the path was that came to the discovery of bronze, whether it was due to certain thousands of years of experimentation, or was discovered by chance, Greece was now entering an age of bronze.
