Maximize the Minimum

If you are unlucky enough to be one of the very disadvantaged, it is really hard to find a way up and out. Extreme poverty kills all life plans because no one has the time or the space or the resource to plan. So if there's a risk that we could be one of those for whom life is a day to day struggle, we would know that to have any chance of a fulfilling life, we would need to be the priority. Some people might think they would risk being at the bottom for a chance and being at the top as their definition of a good life is being better off than almost everybody.
