John Stuart Mill was the first MP to call for women's suffrage. His book The Subjection of Women, published in 1869, made a powerful case for equality between the sexes. When he found that dead baby in the park, his response was to walk the streets, handing out advice on contraception. John Stuart Mill is best known as the writer of On Liberty but lived an extraordinary life.
