What Does Binding and Loosing Mean?
Benedict the 16th in his book, Jesus of Nazareth, talks about Matthew 12. He brings in one of the most famous American rabbis ever, Rabbi Jacob Newstner. In that passage, he says, well, it's obvious what Jesus is doing. He and the apostles can break the Sabbath because they stand in the place of the priests. The Eucharist is this great offering of renewal of the covenant.
