The Effect of Promotion on Chinese TikTok

CNN's John Sutter says Chinese statistics are fake. He says they're made up by local officials who have huge incentives to fudge the numbers. China is getting less transparently reported and harder to get semi-reliable data from, he says. The problem with this system is that it has really biased coverage particularly of rural people.
