With smarter brains, we got better at hunting and foraging. We figured out better ways to access the cala s in our food. In doing so, we further increased the supply of energy to our bodies. And this allowed us to evolve even smarter brains. This virtuous circle was what propelled our brains to the top of the class. So we have 16 billion neurons on average. Next in line is the gorilla and orangotangs, with eight to nine billion neurons. Then you have chimpanzes with six to seven.
