This miniature plantation of eleven acres belonged to a merchant in the city. The whole property had cost the debtor eighteen hundred dollars. His views in founding it were similar to mine. He meant to establish for himself a home, to which at some future period he might retire. But one disaster succeeding another forced him to abandon his anticipated refuge nearly a year before we came along.
