The Trial of Elizabeth I
From January to May, 1611, 224 testimonies were gathered from witnesses. 21 judges conducted the trial. One accusation made was that Elizabeth made sausages out of the flesh of the dead girls. A second trial was scheduled for January 7th and witnesses confessed as they had before. 80 people were found guilty of having helped Elizabeth in the murders. Three of which were sentenced to death and immediately executed. The last one was beheaded and burned at the stake alongside the other two. Judges ordered the punishment of solitary confinement for Elizabeth. She was transported from her castle to a small room with no windows.
