How Does Language Relate to My Experience?
Emmanuel Kant spoke about the necessity of discovering what he calls a priori truths. These are truths that are not derived from experience and apply to all circumstances. For example, moral judgments aren't just made on a case by case basis but as universalizing principles which don't depend upon my experience. He even put God within this category though for him it was more practical than actually real necessarily.
