Dracula - The First of Its Kind
The character of Dracula seems to be loosely based on a Romanian prince from the 1400s. Vlad Tepech was known for torturing, mutilating, mass murdering, disemboweling, decapitating, or boiling or skinning his victims alive. The original novel Dracula was written by Braum Stoker in 1897, and Stoker's notes don't mention Vlad the Impaler directly.
