Is There a Role for Technology in the Development of Entertainment Content?
When Netflix and Amazon began to produce their own content, they made lots of bold declarations about how different their developmental process would be compared to traditional Hollywood studios. It feels as though Netflix, Amazon and Apple have all retreated to traditional Hollywood development and production practices. Their hit rates seem to me not any better than all the other Hollywood studios. Each of their content divisions are now run by executives who grew up in traditional entertainment companies.
