The US Senate Votes Down a Resolution That Says the North Atlantic Treaty Does Not Override the US Constitution
The US Senate was asked to pass a resolution that said this treaty does not override the US Constitution, which of course it does not and cannot. Article five of the North Atlantic treaty does not say that we automatically have to go to war. What it does say is that an armed attack on any member state will be considered an armed attack against them all. And so it says right there that it's up to individual member states to deem what they think is necessary to include there.
