Then, in 1698, the Scots Left Scotland
Scots raised 400,000 pounds in six months to fund the voyage. The journey took three months and 43 people died en route. They landed November 3rd at a spot they named Caledonia Bay. It's now known as Golden Island on the coast of Darien.
