What separates an action, like an urban fantasy, action monster novel from horror is usually the capability of the protagonists. If you take those characters beyond their capabilities, and you push them into a new realms of uncertainty and dread, then all of a sudden it is horror again. So, aliens realin tcaus that's a great example. Colonial marines, bunch of bad mampajambas. The first one's really horri me. Second ones, kind of an action movie still. But it does have, once geen to eman's or aspects of horror. Ah, and it's a fantastic job because it raises stakes, because riply's got the mom thing going on
