The History of Critical Power

Critical power was first developed by Monad et al. in the 1950s, a mathematical model to describe performance over varying durations with small muscle mass exercise. It took until 1979 until de Vries and Moratani extended it to whole body exercise using cycling. The higher you are above critical power, the more quickly you will deplete it.
