I love it when there is this knotiness that occurs through lots of different levels in a book. You know, even down to the cover image of the book is a painting by your friend Jessica Rankin which is itself inspired by a poem called Threadsons. That really struck me but I think that I've always loved making visual art, I've always loving drawing and painting but I wasn't good enough at it. So how do you get good at something that you're not already good at? How long are you supposed to just convince yourself that you're going to become a kind of crazy person like Darity of Tanning or Dorothy Attanning? It's such a weird thing
