The Influence of Visual Art on My Writing

I love it when there is this knotiness that occurs through lots of different levels in a book. You know, even down to the cover image of the book is a painting by your friend Jessica Rankin which is itself inspired by a poem called Threadsons. That really struck me but I think that I've always loved making visual art, I've always loving drawing and painting but I wasn't good enough at it. So how do you get good at something that you're not already good at?
