Virtual reality is already compelling enough as an imersive experience that i believe the table was there. There's a whole lot of technology that will be necessary to actually fully cause us to believe that we're inhabiting this world. I think, im the body is the biggest limitation for now. But overtime, maybe i will, for example, develop brain computer interfaces where we our devices start interfacing directly with the brain rather than having to go through the sensory organs. And maybe for things like the bodily senses and touch and so on, will be much more realistic that way.
Philosopher David Chalmers reckons there’s a 25% chance that we are living in a simulation. And he’s OK with it.
