Camp argues that non adapted plasticity might do more of the latter. If plastic responses don't fit organisms better to their environments, selection pressures could be ramped up. Camp says this extra pressure arising because plastic responses produce variation never before exposed to selection may ultimately refine some traits. But as you'll hear, we don't quite agree. And although we didn't reach consensus, we were able to identify some opportunities for new research.
