The state has evidence that boys 15 to 18 who drop out are more likely to engage in criminal behavior. So it created a programme to help them complete school and keep them away from the city while they do so. As distasteful as it may be, a rational relationship certainly exists. The corpse is arguably rationally related to the state's interest in decreasing crime and protecting the community. Remember, though, that age is neither a suspect nor a quase suspect class,. meaning the court will only apply a rational basis review.
