Professor andy Hoffman is the author of a new book, The Engaged Scholar. In it he argues that academics should be in academe for the right reasons. He says if you become an academic because you want to raise your citation then you shouldn't be there. Professor Hoffman: "If you don't know exactly why you are doing this, you will become what the system wants you to be"
