Reimagining Public Safety: Beyond Policing

This chapter critically examines the effectiveness of policing in ensuring public safety and challenges the notion that it is the best solution to societal issues. It advocates for alternative interventions that focus on community upliftment, such as restorative justice and mental health resources, while addressing historical economic factors that have led to an overreliance on police. By highlighting the limits of policing, the chapter calls for a rethinking of public safety strategies, particularly in light of recent events that have sparked parental concerns about children's safety.
