Stevie and John went to see Mickey Stevenson, who was at first skeptical. He thought they must be some kind of novelty act rather than a serious musician. The initial contract was for an act named Steve and John, but it was soon decided to separate them. Glover would be allowed to hang around Motown while he was finishing school. Paul later became a staff songwriter, working on tracks for the foretops and the miracles among lovers.
