Is There a Dark Matter Diversion?

All galaxies have their little pot holes in divets. And space time is just pock marked because we have a lot of matter in the universe. Light from a galaxy would have to traverse every little divot, every pothole, to reach us. It was when we first started seeing of these split galaxies that people were able to make calculations about how much mass exa must have caused this diversion.
