How Do We Know if It's God?

Prophecy doesn't always have to happen in the moment or need to be spontaneous. God may want to give you a prophetic sense well before you and count to a person. We weigh it scripture, meaning, does it match what scripture overwhelmingly says? Does it treat people like jesus treats people? Do it show god the way we see him revealed in jesus?
