Vincent Van Gogh - A Memoir
Vincent Van Gogh died of infection from his gunshot wound in the early hours of July 29, 1890. He is laid out in a simple coffin strewn with golden sunflowers. The following day, he is buried in a cemetery close to his much-loved wheat fields. His portrait of Dr. Gache was sold by Christis in 1990 for $82.5 million; that figure would equate to something like $180 million today.
