The Future Is De Growth: A Guide to a World Beyond Capitalism

De-growth is the idea that we can have a society that achieves well-being and does not necessarily depend on economic growth to do so. But it also must draw down on material and energetic throughput, the amount of stuff we use in the economy. There's just plenty of evidence that shows that economic growth is highly coupled to the kind of environmental impacts that are leading us to ecological disaster. At a certain point you don't actually get the benefits from economic growth, it just goes to the wealthiest people.
