Women Legislators Are Building Consensus, Right?
The authors of a new white paper found that having more women in government increases the amount of funding for maternal health. But they did not find that this is about more permissive laws that would provide for safer abortions and therefore reduce maternal mortality through that avenue. What I think I have a little more trouble with is just like, how much can we assume that that is going to kind of cause greater maternal education? It could be that there was more women's education and there was sort of greater access to sort of healthcare for for people in pregnancy.
