Introduction
The Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded to Ben Bernanke, Douglas Diamond and Philip Dibbigg. The Swedes began doing this to confer extra prestige on economics during the mid 20th century. There was a lot of what they called physics envy in economics. What Samuelson actually did was more of make economics into a branch of applied mathematics.
