In 481, 480 BC, they declared an amnesty for all those who had been ostracized,. All returned except Parchus, who was condemned to death in Abstentia as a traitor. With all of their best generals back in the city, the Athenians were now ready to face the sternest test in their history to date. Because during the 480s BC, the Persians weren't idle either. By the end of the decade, they were ready to begin the final phase in the Greco-Persian War
