Sally Kohn: Empathy is obviously a huge theme in your work and in that book. First of all, explain to us what you understand by the word empathy. She says it's having an emotion, an appropriate emotional response to what someone might be thinking or feeling. Kohn: In different clinical groups, these two aspects of empathy can become disconnected.
